Visual Impact of PRT
Photo: Lameroux McClendon
&
Associates
|
The visual impact of PRT guideway
is a highly controversial
yet subjective issue. The photos below were taken
by Dennis Manning
7/8/00 at CalExpo - site of the California State Fair,
Sacramento,
California. The guideway is similar in dimension to the Taxi2000
PRT system, but
this is not a PRT system. This system is 27 years old and
was built by
Universal Mobility which sold to TGI which was in turn sold
to
Bombardier. In 1996 the system was given a refurbishing by Lameroux
McClendon & Associates. It is hoped that these photos will provide
a general idea of the visual impact of a PRT guideway. |
These differences and similarities
should be noted:
- Approximately 4 x 2
feet guideway - Taxi2000 3 x 3 feet
- I-beam columns with exposed parts
- Taxi2000 smooth round tapered columns
- Stark blue and white colors -
Taxi2000 muted colors
- Span about 65 feet - Taxi2000 the same
- Clearance height 14 + feet - Taxi2000 the same.
