"At age
56 and after many decades of seeing worsening traffic congestion,
sprawl, etc., from a front row seat as a highway engineer and
transportation planner, and seeing no long term solution through
conventional mass transit or highways; I came across ATRA via the
internet and decided to join. The ATRA mission to promote automated
transportation seemed unerringly logical. ATRA has been extremely
rewarding in learning about automated transportation, its history,
and its potential for meeting transportation needs. However, the
most rewarding aspect has been the personal contacts with the
leaders and experts in the field. ATRA has in effect set me on a
new career. I would particularly urge young people to join ATRA. As
a budding new transportation paradigm, automated transportation
offers a ground floor opportunity for a life time career with
enormous potential."
Dennis Manning, former
planner and engineer, California Department of
Transportation
"For the last
25 years I thought that I was the only person who was interested in
PRT (though I didn't know that that's what people were calling it).
It's only been a couple of months since I discovered that there are
books, associations, and companies working on the field. So you can
imagine how much I'm looking forward to the (Alden) seminar, and to
meeting you and other people who believe in PRT."
William Ackel, Lodi,
California
